Currently I am flat out in the studio working on a new body of paintings that I hope to exhibit in 2015 or 2016. I am experimenting with integrating new symbols into my work inspired by childhood & things that have secret meanings to me.
In the meantime I have been inspired by attending a fashion illustration/screenprinting workshop at Curtin with Surface 1*22. This is the start of one of my digital pieces.
I have also been enjoying playing around with different ideas and colour palettes for my paintings.
The brief for the window display was to merge art and fashion together. A vision of two high fashion women came to mind and I asked the organisers of the event to team me up with a fashion store. To my delight I was partnered up with Moi Moi fine jewellery in the Carillon City, Perth. The wooden bevelled jewellery stands were created by hand and detailed with pops of colour and metallic highlights. Above them hangs a branch with a weaving that incorporates elements of my childhood, a recurring theme of my artworks. The girls feature MoiMoi jewellery as well as having them entwined around their hands and fingers. It was a wonderful moment I could bring my illustrations “to life”.
